Welcome Home

Welcome home to Beach Plum Farm, where alarm clocks are the sounds of the rooster crowing and every night the stars put on a show. Join in the rhythm of farm life when you stay in one of the charming cottages and barns on our farm.
Tucked away in West Cape May on 62 acres of open farmland, our cottages offer a fresh alternative to the classic Cape May beach vacation. They're a chance to experience our town by the sea from a different perspective, one steeped in the rich farming heritage and pastoral beauty of the Garden State. A range of accommodations make our cottages perfect for gatherings of family and friends, holiday celebrations, family reunions, special celebrations and much-needed retreats with the ones you love.

Our Story

When Curtis Bashaw and his partner Will Riccio acquired the land that is now Beach Plum Farm in 2007, the vision was to grow food for Cape Resorts restaurants and to perhaps one day build a home. They were inspired by the farming heritage of South Jersey and knew that the economy here was always a mixture of tourism, fishing and farming. In fact, the Millers and Cakes, owners of Congress Hall for a good part of the 1800s, also owned a farm in West Cape May where they grew food for the hotel.
As the years have passed, Beach Plum Farm has become much more than land that grows food — it has become a destination for thousands of visitors each year to see the animals raised and witness the food grown. When the opportunity arose to acquire the original farmhouse and barn for the land that became Beach Plum Farm, Bashaw and Riccio jumped at the opportunity.
And so the vision was born to create cottages and barns for people to stay and participate in the rhythm of farm life. To arrive and leave your car and be given keys to a golf cart and bicycles. To participate in the egg harvest, or potato or strawberry harvest. To take a dip in the pool set in an orchard or to wind down the evening around a campfire, enjoying the night sounds on the farm.

cottage fireplaces
Each cottage and barn on our farm has its own indoor fireplace or gas wood stove, as well as its own outdoor wood-burning fire pit. Curl up next to the hearth when the air turns crisp, or spend summer nights roasting marshmallows under the stars. We'll set you up with firewood upon request — no chopping required.
cottage bicycles
& golf carts
Comfortable and stylish, our fleet of Tuesday brand bicycles make trips into town a breeze. The farm's proximity to Cape May's historic downtown means you're only a ten minute bike ride away from all the boutiques, restaurants and galleries the island is famous for.
Need a little more pep in your step? Hop on your cottage's golf cart, available for use anytime during your stay. Our golf carts can zip up to 25 miles per hour, making them street-legal and ready for action.
personalized
farm tours
A stay at one of our cottages is an invitation to participate in what we call 'farm life': the timeless, tried-and-true farming traditions that gave the Garden State its name. Take a personalized and interactive tour with one of our knowledgable Farm Staff, who might ask for your help in hand-picking carrots, potatoes, or strawberries depending on the harvest. No matter the season, there's always a bounty of nature to explore and experience here. Come take a look at what's growing just outside your window.
the farm market & kitchen
As our guest, you're steps away from one of the most robust farmer's markets West Cape May has to offer. Nestled in the main Amish barn, The Beach Plum Farm Market is filled with choice produce and meats from our fields as well as a wide range of artisanal products from local makers. Stock your Cottage pantry with farm-fresh ingredients, experiment with a new recipe, and cook with the full flavors of our farm.
Looking for a light bite or a delicious prepared meal? The Farm Kitchen serves up breakfast and lunch favorites using fresh farm ingredients. Enjoy your meal at a picnic table, or opt have it delivered right to your doorstep.

The Orchard Pool

Located a short walk from your doorstep, the Orchard Pool is a quiet oasis reserved exclusively for cottage guests. Surrounded by nature, it's the perfect space to relax and rejuvenate. Spend an afternoon with a good book on a comfortable pool lounger, or go for a sunset swim on a warm summer evening.

beach service

You don’t have to decide between a beach vacation and a cabin in the woods this summer. A stay at one of our Cottages means you get the best of both worlds — a private retreat in the serenity of our farm that's located just minutes away from some of the finest beaches on the East Coast.
So grab your swimsuit, hop on your golf cart and head to the beach in front of Congress Hall, where attendants will be waiting for you with complimentary chairs, towels and umbrellas. Order a bite from our beach menu and settle in to the sounds of crashing ocean surf.
