“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Talk about it.”
One week the farm is quiet…cold soil, widely planted rows of summer crops, the last breath of winter still hanging on. Then something shifts. The light stretches. The wind softens, just a little. And suddenly, everything is moving. Fast. Real fast!
You see it first in the ground. Asparagus pushing through like it’s got somewhere to be. Radishes, baby carrots, pea shoots, lettuces, spinach, arugula…coming in steady now after daily waterings. The green houses are humming. Raised beds are turning over. Hands back in the dirt…. And yes! We’re still seeding. My favorite.
The chocolate mint, somehow, is finding its way back after a tough winter. Not ready yet for iced tea but getting close.
Strawberries are SO close. You can see the small white flowers ready to go. And when they land, Sue’s shortcakes at the bakery won’t be far behind. Strawberry madness is only weeks away!
