Fall Migration with Richard Crossley

Available Select Dates in October 2025

Beach Plum Farm Cottages

Set out with acclaimed author and birder Richard Crossley as your guide, exploring Cape May's famous autumn bird migration.

Each autumn, hundreds of species of birds take flight over Cape May as they head south for the winter—and with Richard Crossley as your guide, you'll experience the migration at its most spectacular. “The largest variety of birds are moving south to their wintering grounds," Richard says. "We get everything: 30 species of warbler, shorebirds, raptors—you name it. It’s possible to see nearly 200 species over just a few days."

Richard Crossley is an internationally acclaimed birder, photographer and award winning author of ‘The Crossley ID Guide’ series. Crazy, wildly passionate, driven and single-minded are just a few of the words used to describe his love of birding and the outdoors.

Included in this package:

  • Private Cottage accommodations
  • A Welcome Reception on the night of your arrival
  • A copy of The Crossley ID Guide: Eastern Birds, Richard Crossley's definitive field guide that will vastly improve your ability to identify birds
  • Two Hands-On Birding excursions, led by Richard Crossley
  • Breakfast each morning
  • Lunch in between your excursions
  • An Adventure Dinner on Monday, featuring a spontaneous location around Cape May's fields and coastlines.
  • All transportation provided from Beach Plum Farm to each destination and back again, for the duration of your stay.

Our Migration Experience

The Adventure Dinner

Apart from your birding excursions, our Migration experience is anchored by the Adventure Dinner—a special open air pop-up dinner served family-style at a communal table, featuring a spontaneous location around Cape May's fields and coastlines. The menu for these dinners, created by Executive Chef Bobby Will, is tailored specifically to the location: coast, forest, or field.
