As part of our Garden State Dinner Series, Beach Plum Farm proudly welcomes Salt + Clover Sheep Farm, a South Jersey sheep dairy rooted in tradition and carried forward under the stewardship of the Powell family. Their work reflects both the heritage and evolving future of New Jersey agriculture, with a focus on raising East Friesian dairy sheep and producing rich, nutrient-dense sheep’s milk products. 

About our Dinners

  • All dinners are BYOB.
  • Farm Dinners are best suited for adults aged 21 and up.

In support of the next generation of growers, a portion of the proceeds from this dinner will be donated to our local 4-H Club, helping inspire the youth of Cape May to learn about and engage in local farming practices. Investing in young farmers today ensures that the agricultural traditions of our region continue to thrive tomorrow.

Salt + Clover Sheep Farm

Salt + Clover Sheep Farm is a Cape May County–based sheep dairy carrying forward a legacy that began in 2016 with Misty Meadow Sheep Dairy. In 2024, the Powell family stepped in to continue that legacy, preserving the farm’s traditions while reimagining its future with care, intention, and community in mind.

Specializing in East Friesian dairy sheep, the farm follows seasonal milking practices and emphasizes thoughtful animal care, including raising lambs alongside their mothers before transitioning into production. Their sheep are pasture-raised and supplemented with non-GMO feed and minerals, resulting in high-quality milk used to create cheeses, yogurts, and other dairy products.

With a deep respect for its history and an eye toward the future, Salt + Clover Sheep Farm represents a new generation of New Jersey agriculture—one that honors the past while creating opportunities for connection, education, and community engagement. From farm experiences and seasonal events to expanded family-friendly spaces, the farm continues to grow as a place where people can better understand where their food comes from and the care behind it.
