The Pridwin will provide the perfect backdrop as Kistler brings a little bit of California to the most magical and fleeting of moments - an east coast summer.
Kistler Vineyards brings their wine tasting to Shelter Island. For two weeks in August, they will offer a limited number of tastings by appointment in one of the most beautiful and historic settings in the Hamptons. Tastings are intimate, communal experiences hosted by a member of the Kistler staff.
Join Kistler Vineyards as they celebrate the beginning of their Shelter Island Residency. This will feature a curated selection of wines paired with a menu of Pridwin classics crafted by Chef Todd Ruiz in a reception-style format.
Your host will guide you through a tasting of Kistler's single-vineyard Chardonnays and one Pinot Noir, sharing insights into their winemaking techniques, vineyard sites, and the unique characteristics of each wine. Tastings are intimate, communal experiences. You may be paired with other groups, so we kindly request you arrive promptly at your scheduled time.
On select evenings throughout their residency at The Pridwin, Kistler will host a Golden Hour tasting—an invitation to ease into the weekend with an early evening reception-style tasting overlooking the water on Shelter Island. Guests are welcome to enjoy a flight of Kistler wines accompanied by light seasonal refreshments as the day settles into one of the most beautiful moments on the East End.
Kistler's goal for nearly fifty years has been to lessen their imprint on every vineyard they work with and the wines that result. This is a profoundly difficult process, as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the varietals most easily marked by heavy-handed farming and the hand of the maker.
Kistler is a proudly Californian effort where they apply old world reverence to new world sites and hold a distinct orientation grounded in patience, fully recognizing that mature vines make the best wines. Kistler operates on different timelines than many, with decisions often taking a decade plus to form, all viewed through a looking forward lens of the next fifty years and beyond.
Because of the plant material used, because of the sites chosen, because of the farming and that of their partners, the fruit can and will reach a perfect balance where it is the only ingredient needed to make exceptional, delicious wines. Kister's hope is to let the sites and the vintage speak for themselves.
