The Squares: From Cline to Cash & Beyond

Winter Concert Series

March 11 at 7:30 pm CONGRESS HALL'S GRAND BALLROOM

March 11 – The Squares - Join this irrepressible local trio on a tour of the best of country music. Enjoy a prix-fixe dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern and head to the Ballroom for a night of entertainment and fun with friends.Country songs have been a huge part of the Squares repertoire since the trio’s debut in 2011. Start with the classics: Hank Williams’ “Cold, Cold Heart”, Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight”, and Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”. Add in some of the beautiful songs that appeared in Nashville in the late 80’s, like Nancy Griffith’s “I Knew Love” and Randy Travis’ “Somewhere in my Broken Heart”. Then mix in originals by the Squares’ own songwriters, such as M.Q. Murphy’s hilarious “Country Song” and J.M. Kearns’ touching tribute to Elvis, “The King and I”.  Led by the powerful voice of Debra Donahue, from high-lonesome ballads to toe-tapping bluegrass tunes, the Squares will put a moonshine smile on your face!
